Kay is survived by her sons, Jeff (Julie Conboy) Hesse of Chicago and Brad (Julie Johnson) Hesse of Urbandale her grandchildren: Allie (Kyler) Garkie of Newton, Ashley (Garrett) Boone of Newton, Trent Hesse of Ankeny, Genevieve Hesse, Timothy Hesse, and Beatrice Hesse, all of Chicago and her great-grandchildren: Paisley, Avery, and Aubree. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends, who were so supportive during her illness. Kay loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. Kay was also an active member of PEO and served in officer positions. Kay was united in marriage with LeRoy Hesse in 1962 in Rochester. She was the first runner up in the Miss Rochester contest. Kay always had a keen sense of style and modeled in her spare time. Kay moved to Rochester, Minnesota where she worked at the Mayo Clinic and attended community college for elementary education.
